PRESSING MATTER
An
ironing board that folds into
the wall frees up floor space.
Shelves in the recessed area
keep spray bottles handy.
WRAP AND ROLL
Different-
size drawers in the island,
including long shallow ones
for rolls of paper, organize
wrapping supplies. “I can run
in, wrap a gift in two minutes,
and be on my way to take
one of the kids to a birthday
party,” Beth says.
Beth’s Stay-Organized Tips
■ Give everything a home. Most-used items get the
prim e storage spots. Beth also stores her kids’ art
supplies on lower shelves fo r accessibility and so
they learn to put things away.
■ Routinely purge. “M y rule is to deal with things—
like dried-out glue— as I come across them so they
don’t build into big messes,” Beth says.
■ Supersize. Beth planned drawers and shelves fo r
the biggest-case scenarios, such as jumbo rolls of
wrapping paper. “W e know whatever we buy will
fit in its home,” she says. “W hen you store things
in separate places, you forget what you have.”
